IDEF 2025 – Aselsan Turan 100 BR-OM, a mobile tactical cloud for warfighters
At the Istanbul exhibition Aselsan, the leading Turkish defence electronics company, unveiled the Turan 100 BR-OM, a mobile tactical cloud installed on a utility vehicle, which allows seamless connectivity through various types of communication networks
On the Aselsan outside exhibition area at the Istanbul Expo Center visitors could see the new suite of communication equipment hosted in a module that was installed on the flatbed of a Toyota Hilux 4×4 vehicle. This suite was the Turan 100 BR-OM, one of the latest systems unveiled by the Ankara-based company, to improve battlefield connectivity.
The module carried by the 4×4 tactical utility vehicle was fitted with several radio links including VHF, UHF, SATCOM, narrowband links, wideband LTE (Long-Term Evolution) such as 4G and 5G, responding to P25 and DMR digital radio standards. SATCOM ensure uninterrupted communications even in remote and inaccessible regions, radio link communications provide high-capacity and secure point-to-point communication, while the radio communication infrastructure guarantees direct real-time communication between field personnel and vehicles.
EDR On-Line understood that the core of the Turan 100 BR-OM allows combining any of the on-board networks, generating a tactical cloud system. Aselsan is ready to adapt range to customer’s requirements, installing hardware with different performances, the same applying to the vehicle, the Toyota used at the exhibition being only an example.
The system is user transparent, the Aselsan algorithms selecting the best solution in terms of data speed, coverage and electronic warfare activity on the enemy side without any intervention by the operator. An IP-based infrastructure, the communication systems are fully end-to-end encrypted, with AES-256 software encryption to which strong artificial intelligence and quantum based encryption algorithms are added in Aselsan hardware, company representatives underlining the system resistance against cyber attacks.
The Turan 100 BR-OM includes a generator, which ensures full independence from external power sources, as well as an air conditioning system dedicated to the payload section. The whole system is contained in a module, allowing transforming any vehicle into a comprehensive communication platform with high-level information security, tactical cloud capabilities, comprehensive communication infrastructure, advanced manageability, high interoperability and mobile communication capabilities, as the system performs also on the move. The Turan tactical cloud improves information sharing and common situational awareness, allowing field units to access real-time data, maps, intelligence reports and other critical information on secured links.
According to Aselsan representatives the Turan 100 BR-OM is at TRL 7.
